Nestled in the Minima Valley in Umbria sits our beloved farmhouse, Casa Miedi. It has been a part of life in the area for over 300 years. In the garden surrounding the farmhouse are many fruit and nut trees that provide the jams and fruits for the various pastries that are served at Casa Miedi. There is also a completely organic garden, and guests can enjoy being a part of the process from garden to the table in our cooking classes. The ethos here is to be as self-sufficient as possible and to support local producers and help the economy of the region. Our favorite feature of this home is the original forno al legna, wood oven, that was once used to help families bake their weekly bread when they couldn’t get to the village. We still fire up our forno and make bread weekly and of course pizza for our guests. We open our home to you and provide you with a unique experience that offers insight into our life here in Umbria.
Stanza del Pane
Translated to, "The bread room", this special space receives its name from the original wood oven that is outside it's doors. The Forno al legna has baked many loaves of bread, pizzas and was used for daily cooking over the centuries. This room was once the kitchen and heart of our farmhouse. The old stone sink can still be found under the window. We take pride in preserving many of the original details, blending them with new and modern luxuries.
Il Piccolo Nido
"The little nest". This warm and cozy room is a beloved space with it's own fun history as being the old piggery. We have added fun little touches around this room, paying homage to it's former inhabitants, while maintaining the historic features and creating a space that is full of charm and relaxation. The original stone wall and courtyard just outside the room is a charming space to relax, enjoy a book and the peacefulness around you.
Sogni d'Oro
"Sweet Dreams". We have enjoyed finding special pieces for each our guest rooms. Browsing local markets, and antique stores searching for items that truly belong in each space and make it special. This room was once the stables for the horses at Miedi. Now, it has been restored with special care and maintains one of the original stone horse ties on the wall. With carefully chosen pieces, this elegant room is the perfect place to relax.
La Cucina
The kitchen is the heart of Miedi. A warm and inviting gathering place. Food and wine are experienced, prepared and enjoyed with friends and family...Memories are made.
